Energy policy and Economic development of Nations

Energy has become arguably the world’s most needed resource.

An indispensable raw material in production, distribution of goods and services.

However the escalating cost of energy, its sustainability, supply security and the drive for efficiency, to reduce or replace fossil fuel and save the environment has given impetus to energy management.

 

 

All serious focused nations worldwide are continually crafting and religiously implementing futuristic energy policies to enhance their countries competitiveness, energy sustainability and supply security.

Energy has become a key indicator in the classification of national development and Gross Domestic Product. A criteria for rating nations as developed, developing and underdeveloped.

 

 

Nations like USA, UK, Canada, China, India, Germany, Australia, and indeed most European and Asian countries have energy policies to reflects their economic development and prosperity pattern.

For example, in United States,  President Obama in pursuit of above, on March 19, 2015 signed the Executive order 13693 (2015 -2025), an energy policy. Where the federal facility mandate was to reduce the Greenhouse Gas (GHGs) by 40%.

Some Specifics with incremental progress milestones are;

  • By 2025 – require 30% of building electricity from renewable
  • By 2025-Reduce GHG Emissions from fleets by 30% from 2014 levels.
  • Reduce Energy intensity by 2.5% per year (2015-2025)
  • Reduce water intensity by 2% per year (2015-2025)

Nations know that for their economy to be competitive, businesses and industries must thrive. The driving factors are;

  • Environmental regulations.
  • Product quality improvement.
  • Productivity improvement.
  • Energy -is the related and foundation of the three factors above. Hence the need to be energy management & efficiency.

 

 

In other words, the proper use of energy, its management is obviously a major parameter for your survival, productivity, profitability and prosperity of nations and businesses (big and small).
