We shall begin with what is Energy and Power?

Energy is the capacity to do work.

 While Power is the workdone (rate of doing working) per unit time.



Thermal Systems

The unit of energy Consumption is the British Thermal Unit (BTU).

One BTU is the amount of energy required to raise one pound of water by one degree Fahrenheit (F).

Power in a thermal system is BTU’s per hour.



In energy analysis the conversion from one unit to another is inevitable. Below shows conversion factors used in energy analysis.
